The Better Identity Coalition was launched earlier this year, with a charter to develop and advance consensus, cross-sector policy solutions that promote the development and adoption of better solutions for identity verification and authentication. Formed in the wake of the Equifax breach – at a time when policymakers were looking for solutions to address the weaknesses of legacy digital identity verification tools – the Coalition has brought together leading firms from sectors including financial services, health care, technology, telecommunications, fintech, payments, and security.
The Coalition’s “Blueprint for Policymakers” was released in July and lays out a five-point action plan for the government to improve the security, privacy, and convenience of identity solutions for all Americans. Standards play a role in “Better Identity” and Jeremy will outline what steps the Coalition believes should come next here.
